Anyone can take pictures. What’s difficult is thinking about them, organizing them, and trying to use them in some way so that some meaning can be constructed out of them. That’s really where the work of the artist begins.

not buying it, Lewis…all meaning is contrived, created in our heads…one photo, like one painting can have just as much meaning as a series, if we say it does…
Baltz makes a valid point, as do you. It’s not either/or. I generally go with single images too, but I’m becoming more intrigued with the idea of series. Single photos that work together to strengthen and expand a theme.
One reason I post these quotes is that they can be food for thought. Contrary opinions are always welcome and encouraged. It keeps things interesting. Thanks for yours.
